Daugavpils Fortress

Daugavpils Fortress is a unique cultural and historical architectural monument of national importance. Daugavpils Fortress is also considered as the last bastion-type fortress in the world that has been preserved without any significant alterations since the early 19th century.

Rothko Museum

Rothko Museum is a multifunctional complex of contemporary art, culture and education situated in the Arsenal building at Daugavpils Fortress. It is the only place in Eastern Europe where the original masterpieces of the famous painter and the founder of the abstract expressionism Mark Rothko can be seen.

Latgale Zoo

Here, in the artificially created jungles, visitors can see spotted pythons, spectacled caimans bathing in the sun, red koi carps swimming in the ponds, playful macaques and sugar gliders jumping in the lianas and other swimming, whistling, crawling, hopping and flying tropical creatures.

Daugavpils Theatre

The Daugavpils Theatre is one of the oldest professional theatres in Latvia. It is the only professional theatre in Latgale.

Daugavpils Regional Studies and Art Museum

Daugavpils Regional Studies and Art Museum is one of the oldest museums in Latgale, founded in 1938. Located at 8 Rigas Street, in a magnificent building constructed in 1883.

“Playday” Children’s Entertainment Centre

The biggest entertainment complex in Latgale with an area of more than 500m². Various entertainment facilities available for both children and teenagers. The entire playground is divided into zones where children of different ages can play together without interfering with each other. It is also possible to celebrate birthday parties in a separate room.

Daugavpils Innovation Centre

Daugavpils Innovation Centre – a new learning environment for everyone, where you can experiment, research, create innovative solutions, develop entrepreneurial abilities, and connect learning content with real life and the digital environment.

Daugavpils Clay Art Centre

The centre offers the possibility to get acquainted with the cultural heritage of Latgale – ceramics and pottery traditions. This is the only place in Latvia where visitors can see and learn about the hardened Baltic raku ceramics which is being matured in fermented rye-flour liquid.

Exhibition of Retro Cars “RetroGaraž-D”

Different automobile brands are represented in the exhibition – 22 “Moskvich”, 2 “Zhiguli”, “Volga” and “Mercedes” cars. This is probably the largest “Moskvich” collection in the Baltic States.

Central Beach of Lielais Stropu Lake

Central Beach offers a wide choice of leisure activities for everyone – a pedestrian route for walks, which is illuminated at night, a bicycle path for cyclists, an open area for sports activities with the outdoor exercise equipment, a free beach volleyball court and other. A unique lake pontoon construction is available for visitors of the beach. The construction consists of the lake promenade, the 25-meter outdoor swimming pool with 4 lanes, jumping tower and children’s swimming pool.

Stropi Active Rest and Sports Track

The active rest and sports track is located in the Daugavpils Stropi Forest. The length is approximately three kilometres (1.1 km – elevation, 2.8 km – plain).

“Daugavpils Tarzāns” Adventure Park

In Daugavpils, near Lielais Stropu Ezers lake, there is a  tourism attraction – adventure park “Daugavpils Tarzāns”.  Obstacle park is suitable for children as well as for adults for active leisure. It will be interesting for both children and adults, since the tracks are tailored to different interests. The park consists of 9 obstacle tracks with different degrees of difficulty. 

Daugavpils Bat Centre

Daugavpils Fortress is a place where the second largest in the Baltic States hibernating bat colony inhabits. The fortress walls with a high humidity, as well as a special microclimate in the fortifications create favorable conditions for dwelling.  Exposition of the Daugavpils Bat Centre is located in the lateral room of the Niсholas Gate in Daugavpils Fortress.

The promenade on Bruģu Street on the bank of the Daugava River

On the right bank of the Daugava River, in the vicinity of Gayok district the Bruģu Street promenade has been built.  It is aimed at giving the streets a new, functional look and meaning. After completion of the Bruģu Street promenade, Daugavpils city acquired a new, facilitated area for strolling and enjoying the splendour of nature.

Lielais Stropu Lake Promenade

Lielais Stropu Lake – the largest water body in Daugavpils, located 8 km from the city centre, attracts a large number of holidaymakers in the summer season. There is a ~5km long promenade along the shore of the lake. By walking along the promenade from the Central Beach to the left, you can reach the beach “Stropu vilnis”, where the adventure park “Daugavpils Tarzāns” and a camping site are located.

House of Traditions

It is possible to learn about the Latvian folk traditions by working practically, participating in workshops and classes in the House of Traditions. Traditional Latvian festivities are celebrated here, folk craft workshops, exhibitions, training sessions on playing folk musical instruments, seminars on traditional Latvian festivals, games and dances, as well as dance evenings, conversations and discussions on preservation of intangible cultural heritage are held here.

Music Square in Esplanade Rest Park

Music Square in Esplanade Rest Park is a place for rest and walks in Daugavpils. The central theme of the new recreation and walking area is the sounds of music in an urban environment. There are various music instrument in the open air which allow to both hear and feel the music in its various forms. There are 10 different outdoor musical instruments – drums, xylophone, tube bells and other interesting objects.

Central Park

Central park in modern park with numerous flower beds and plants is a real jewel in the heart of the Daugavpils city.

Daugavpils Olympic Centre

Visitors of the centre can use 25 m swimming pool with 6 lanes, depth 1.35 m – 1.85 m and 12 m x 6 m small swimming pool, depth 0,95 m. For relaxation, the excellent solution is the spa zone which additionally offers the sauna, steam bath and massage baths to combine with a refreshing swim.

Esplanade Rest Park

Esplanade Rest Park is the first bike park in the Baltics covering an area of 4 hectares in the urban environment. This park includes a variety of areas – a skatepark, an asphalted cycling track, an adventure trail and a children’s area. The park is multifunctional and is adapted for 8 different vehicles – mtb, bmx, street, balance bike, skateboard, longboard, roller skates and scooter.

Lielais Stropu Lake

Lielais Stropu Lake is the largest water body in Daugavpils that attracts many holidaymakers during the summer season. Every year International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) designates a Blue Flag Award for high environmental and quality standards to Central Beach of Lielais Stropu Lake.

“Orange Bowling” Entertainment and Recreation Complex

Entertainment and leisure complex “Orange Bowling” invites visitors to enjoy modern bowling with 10 lanes and world famous brand “Brunswick” equipment. “Orange Bowling” welcomes guests to play air hockey, billiard and various non-gambling games.

Art Studio “Putra”

Art studio “Putra” is an artist’s Oksana Vronska graphic workshop established in cooperation with forging studio “Edgara Vronska kalēju studija”. Visitors are invited to attend various graphic technique lessons and demonstrations. Graphic lessons develop dimensional imagination, creative thinking and fantasy, and helps to bring into life interesting ideas.

“Olimpija” Sports Complex

The venue offers 14 comfortable and cosy rooms with 27 beds. It offers active leisure, relaxation and SPA: salt room, 25 m swimming pool, Jacuzzi, infrared cabin, various saunas (Roman, salt, ice), biosauna, aroma sauna, table tennis, billiards, sports equipment and the possibility to visit the fitness club.

“Sanmari” Children’s Cafe

Colorful cafe specially designed for children, where every child will feel like in a fairy tale. Children’s menu with a wide range of dishes is available. Business lunch is available from 12 pm to 3 pm. Organisation of children’s banquets for up to 15 people.

“Funny Land” Children’s Entertainment Centre

“Funny Land” Children’s Entertainment Centre is one of the biggest children’s entertainment centres in Latgale with an area of 350m2. The centre is located within a short driving distance from the city centre and 300m away from the public transport stop. The parking for 20 cars is available nearby.

Outdoor tennis courts

In Daugavpils are offered 4 outdoor tennis courts and a rental of equipment. The tennis courts are located in a picturesque place – Stropi pine forest.

Salon Antique “Housevintage”

The salon offers to view and purchase historical furniture, dishes, clocks a.o. interior objects from the late 19th and early 20th century.

Family Digital Activity Hub is a great place for recreation and entertainment with family and friends. Digital Activity Hub is the place to explore the technology of the 21st century.  A wide range of entertainment is available: board games, developing and educational books and hub’s technological equipment –interactive bicycle ride, virtual reality glasses, kinetic quiz collection, Xbox One games collection.

Boat trips on Daugava River with a “Sikspārnis” boat

“Restime Daugavpils” offers boat trips along Daugava River with a “Sikspārnis” boat. During the trip, passengers can see the Unity Bridge, Daugavpils districts, Daugavpils Fortress and get to know the biological diversity of the river and its coasts.

Sightseeing tour in Daugavpils Fortress on electric bus

The creators of the Museum of the World War I “Pie Komendanta” offer sightseeing tours in Daugavpils Fortress on an electric bus. During the trip, guests and residents of the city will be introduced to the most interesting and significant objects of Daugavpils Fortress and their history.

Fortress promenade

The total length of the promenade is around 1 kilometre, it goes on the upper level of the protection dam around the fortress. The fortress promenade is a great place for leisurely walks, to view fortress fortifications on both banks of the River Daugava, as well as to enjoy sunsets and slow flow of the river.

Swamp Trail in Esplanade

The Swamp Trail is a unique tourist and nature exploration object. The Swamp Trail is a 1.5-kilometre-long trail with several viewing platforms and hides for bird and animal watching. You can explore the diverse life of the swamp’s inhabitants in two ways: by taking a leisurely stroll along the well-maintained trail, or by taking on the role of a field researcher and choosing an adventurous route.

The shooting range in Daugavpils

Multimedia Hall “Daugavpils Kino”

Multimedia Hall “Daugavpils Kino” is located in the Daugavpils Palace of Culture. The Multimedia Hall has 96 seats and 3 spaces for wheelchairs. Films and cartoons from the world’s leading film studios are presented here.

TENNIS COURTS

The “TENNIS PRO CLUB” organization offers three clay courts for rent, tennis equipment, and a tennis ball machine is available for rent.

“FlyFly.lv” butterfly studio

The butterfly studio “FlyFly.lv” is a true butterfly paradise. The studio is located in the city centre of Daugavpils and offers butterflies from tropical forests all over the world. Visitors can admire the splendour of butterfly wings, learn about the structure and life cycle of butterflies, their development, characteristics and feeding habits.

Jet ski rental in Daugavpils

A jet ski rental point “Belmonti” is located on the “Stropu vilnis” beach. It offers the rental of the latest jet skis and professional equipment, and here you can receive instruction under the guidance of a certified instructor, who will accompany you on the trip if necessary. After prior agreement, it is possible to request jet ski trips to other lakes of Latgale.

Children’s party hall and photo studio «LOFT Home»

The Rainis Centre is a new cultural place in the vicinity of Griva, which operates under the auspices of the Daugavpils Regional Studies and Art Museum, offering Daugavpils residents and city guests to get to know the history, cultural heritage and notable personalities of the left bank of the Daugava.
