Daugavpils Clay Art Centre

The centre offers the possibility to get acquainted with the cultural heritage of Latgale – ceramics and pottery traditions. This is the only place in Latvia where visitors can see and learn about the hardened Baltic raku ceramics which is being matured in fermented rye-flour liquid.

Viski Craftsmen Village

Crafts (the three-dimensional ceramic panels, woodwork (the ceramist Valdis Grebežs), wickerwork (Pūpoli studio), demonstrations of craft skills. A familiarization with traditional Latvian national musical instrument – kokle.

The Workshop of Woodcarver Varis Vilcans

Varis Vilcāns a woodcarver and blacksmith, who calls himself craftsman of weird things. During the visit to his workshop, it is possible to observe woodcarving process, participate in forging and shoot with a bow and crossbow.

The Smith Edgars Vronskis

Art metal design, decorative products, demonstration skills. Visitors are invited to try their hand at stamping coins, or souvenir.

Art Studio “Putra”

Art studio “Putra” is an artist’s Oksana Vronska graphic workshop established in cooperation with forging studio “Edgara Vronska kalēju studija”. Visitors are invited to attend various graphic technique lessons and demonstrations. Graphic lessons develop dimensional imagination, creative thinking and fantasy, and helps to bring into life interesting ideas.

Osvalds Skromans

Osvalds Skromans is a craftsman who is making different wicker artworks for more than 20 years. He is making weaves of different types and sizes, both from round wicker and from wicker strips. The range of products is very wide – from various baskets to chandeliers and tables. The craftsman offers to buy gifts for those who like handmade things from natural and ecologically clean materials. These products will fit well in any house or apartment and have a variety of applications.

ANCIENT CRAFT WORKSHOP “KLĒTS”

The ancient craft workshop “Klēts” has been established in the House of Rainis in Berkenele. On the first floor of the building there is an exposition of various ancient crafts and a multifunctional room for organizing various events. The attic is divided into two parts – one of them is an exhibition hall, but in the smallest part of the attic there is a heated room – a workshop, where in summer and winter craftsmen can work, but visitors can learn various skills of ancient crafts.
