Pogulanka (Saliena) River is the longest (24 km) tributary of the left bank of the Daugava in the Daugava Loki Nature Park. Many kinds of plants and animals were discovered in the valley, and a number of natural monuments and cultural-historical objects were found here. This is a typical river of the Augšzeme upland, which was once considered to be rich in trout and, probably, salmon.
The bridge across the Pogulanka (Saliena) River was built at the end of 19th century from split and shaped boulders. Its arc height is 5,2 m, length – 5,5 m, but width – 4,6 m. The bridge is local architectural and engineering monument.
