International Tourism Matchmaking Event “Daugavpils – take your time, have a rest and enjoy” will be held for the second time in Daugavpils between September 26th – 27th, 2019.  Tourism agencies, tourism operators and travel and tourism journalists from Latvia and other countries are invited to attend the event.

On 17 August, the International Festival of Street Theatres and Clownery will place for the first time in Daugavpils Fortress. It will be dedicated to the legendary clown Koko – Nicolai Poliakov, born in Dvinsk (1900-1974).

In the year 2019 the music festival “Musical August in Daugavpils” begins on the 1st of August and continues till the 29th of August.

5th International Daugavpils Historical Re-enactment Festival “Dinaburg 1812”, which is dedicated to attack of the Napoleon’s Army on the Dinaburg Fortress in 1812, will be held in Daugavpils on July 20th to 21st, 2019.

In the evening of the first day of the festival, “Percival” folk music group will give a performance at 9 pm in the yard of the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre. The music group will perform in Latvia for the first time.

Daugavpils Drift Festival 2019 will take place at the city’s сartodrome “Blāzma” on July 13.

On 12 July, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will open a new exhibition of original works by artist Mark Rothko. The event will be marked by a public discussion and concert and attended by Mark Rothko’s daughter, Kate Rothko Prizel.

From 2nd July till 11th July (including) the ticket prices and expositions’ availability in the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre are changed.

“Basics”, an exhibition of contemporary ceramic art by 71 ceramic artists from the three Baltic States, will be opened at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre on Friday 5 July. Under the framework of the exhibition, a conference on ceramic art will take place in the conference sector from noon sharp until 2 p.m.

At 4 p.m. on Friday 5 July, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will open its height-of-summer season with exhibitions by Latvian, Baltic and international artists. The opening ceremony will be preceded by a conference of Baltic ceramicists, scheduled to start at noon sharp.

Leaflets about the upcoming events held in Daugavpils from July to September 2019 are available at Daugavpils Tourist Information Centre. The leaflets are published in four languages – Latvian, Russian, English and Lithuanian. Leaflets include information about the exhibitions, culture and sports events as well as information about the city’s tourist attractions.

In 2019, a new track was opened in the adventure park – a net route. The net route offers an amazing new way of enjoying activities at the height of 7m, manoeuvring through the nets, jumping or relaxing. It is interesting for both children and adults.

Bicycle and e-scooter rental service is available for fans of the outdoor activities. Residents and guests of Daugavpils have a choice whether to ride around city for a few hours or to take a long trip even for a whole day.

By way of homage to Silva Linarte, brilliant artist and veteran art educator, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre launches a new symposium tradition – the international painting symposium “Silva Linarte” whose first iteration is scheduled for 25 June through 5 July.

From June 28, 2019 to June 30, 2019 the 2nd International Doll Festival will be held in Daugavpils. For the second time, Daugavpils Regional and Art Museum will receive in its premises artists, masters and fans of author dolls from all over the world.

Welcome to the music concerts that will take place on the weekend from June 7th to 9th on the stage at Vienibas square. On Friday evening, June 7 th, there will be a concert of Latvian groups “Carnival Youth” and “Jumprava”. On Saturday, June 8th, Latvian pop singer Aminata will perform for the guests and city residents and after that there will be a concert of Russian pop star Polina Gagarina. After the concert everyone is invited to the festive salute. On Sunday everyone will enjoy a concert of Latvian pop group “Musiqq”.

The topic of this year’s Night of Museums that will be held on May, 18th is “The Bugler of Tālava”. Nine tourist attractions, educational institutions and societies will be inviting visitors to enjoy the magic of the Night of Museums in Daugavpils. Most museums will offer special activities for this original night, aimed at all audiences: storytelling tours, concerts, workshops for children, theatre performances etc.
