Baptists appeared in Daugavpils in 1886 and registered as a community in 1889. The community did not have its own Prayer House, so construction began in 1932, and the Prayer House was opened on 1 October 1933. The prayer house was named “Baltā baznīca”.
During the occupation of Latvia, the Workers’ Guard headquarters was located in the Prayer House. In 1948, the “Uzvara” cinema was opened in this building, which functioned until the end of 1958. In 1945, Daugavpils Medical College was founded nearby, which later took over the building of the Prayer House for its own needs, but in 1994, the Baptist community returned its Prayer House to themselves. The Baptist community is open to everyone.
