On 2 July, the opening of three exhibitions of contemporary ceramics from the three Baltic states will mark the beginning of the 2nd Latvia International Ceramics Biennale, which is organised within the framework of the Latvian centenary programme. It is organised with a view to developing the ceramic discipline, promoting cooperation among the Baltic states and paying a tribute to Pēteris Martinsons, widely considered the father of Latvian contemporary ceramics.

At 4 p.m. on Friday 6 July, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will launch its new exhibition season with three new exhibitions, featuring more than 200 artists. The new season’s exhibitions will be available until 9 September 2018.

On 2-6 July, to underline the importance of ceramic art in the Baltic region, the 2nd Latvia International Ceramics Biennale will offer a range of events in Rīga, Sigulda, Ogre, Daugavpils, Rēzekne and Lūznava, for the first time ever extending into Lithuania via the town of Panevėžys.

A new art object “Heart” was installed in the Daugavpils city centre on the square near the Saint Peter’s in Chains Roman Catholic Church. The art object is dedicated to the Daugavpils City Festival held in 2018.

At 10 p.m. through 2 a.m. on Friday 8 June, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will organise its fourth Art Night, this time with the motto “Woman in Art”.

From 25 May to 8 June 2018, the 7th International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium of Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will bring together ten graphic artists from Poland, Portugal, Greece, the United Kingdom, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and even Brazil.

From 13 to 20 April, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre is organizing the second international photography symposium. Artwork created by symposium participants will be exhibited at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre 20 April through 20 May.

On 20 April 2018, the launch of seven new exhibitions and a 4D multimedia fountain show will mark the fifth anniversary of Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre. The centre will be open to the public 12 noon through 8 p.m., and entrance will be free of charge.

Daugavpils City Municipality Tourism Development and Information Agency has compiled data on the number of visitors in Daugavpils tourist attractions for the tourism season 2017.

Ian Maksin, a world-renowned American cellist, composer and vocalist of Russian descent, will give a free concert in Daugavpils, performing at 6 p.m. on Friday, 9 March 2018 at the concert hall of Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre. The programme will feature music by Bach, Gershwin, Levinson, Grebenshikov, Withers, Sting, Lloyd Webber and other composers as well as some of Maskin’s own compositions.
