Discover Daugavpils history and engineering heritage on an exciting guided tour with a free guide

Continuing its series of city tours, the Daugavpils City Council Tourism Department invites residents and visitors to meet at Unity Square on Sunday, April 26, at 12.00 PM for an educational and exciting tour of Daugavpils led by the charismatic guide Artūrs Fišers.

The tour will begin at the city’s central meeting point—Unity Square—from where participants, accompanied by the guide, will take a leisurely walk to the Daugavpils Fortress, learning along the way about the city’s development and the most significant historical events that have shaped Daugavpils’ identity.

At the end of the tour, a visit is planned to the Daugavpils Technical and Industrial Design Center “Engineers’ Arsenal,” which houses the largest exhibition of vintage vehicles in Latgale. At “Engineers’ Arsenal,” visitors will find four diverse exhibition zones that showcase the development of industrial design and specialized machinery, Soviet-era vehicles, the world of motorcycles, and the elegance of Western cars: from Rolls-Royce to Aston Martin. The exhibition features more than 40 vintage cars, 80 motorcycles and mopeds, as well as a rich selection of accessories and car and motorcycle models.

Visitors will have the opportunity not only to view some of the exhibits but also to get a closer look—they can sit on some of them (e.g., the JAWA 350) to gain a more authentic impression of the historic vehicles.

Please note that the guide service is free of charge during the city sightseeing tour, while admission to the “Engineers’ Arsenal” is subject to a fee, and participants are responsible for paying for their own admission tickets. Admission for groups of 10 or more people costs 8.00 per person. Schoolchildren, students, and seniors receive a 50% discount upon presentation of valid ID. The ticket price for this tour includes the services of an “Engineers’ Arsenal” guide.
