On 12 September this year, the Rīgas Street Festival will take place in Daugavpils.
The Rīgas Street Festival has become an essential part of Daugavpils’ cultural life — a meaningful tradition that visitors experience and carry forward through the interplay of light and shadow, music, visual arts, dance and artisan masterclasses.
Throughout the event, the entire Rīgas Street will be divided into several thematic zones. These will include musical stages reflecting the rhythm of the city through classical, contemporary, rock and pop music; a visual arts zone where visitors can enjoy the charm of graffiti, airbrushing and painting; as well as an artisan masterclass area featuring blacksmithing, ceramics and more.
The Rīgas Street Festival was first held in the early 1990s, in 2014 it was revived and since then has been held annually in September. Nowadays, it’s one of the most awaited events in Daugavpils’ cultural life. Rigas Street is a special part of the city’s history: street is one of the first pedestrian streets in Latvia, an important cultural and architectural environment, where tradition meets modernity.
Information about the event will follow.
