The Daugavpils Palace of Culture is the largest concert hall in Daugavpils and one of the largest and most visited concert halls in Latvia. The Cultural Palace hosts a diverse range of events, including Latvian and international shows, theatre and ballet performances, festivals, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, competitions, and other cultural activities.
The main concert hall is designed for 1,070 spectators, including 8 seats for people with special needs.
On the second floor of the building, visitors can see the largest stained-glass window in Latvia, titled “Fire and Night” and created in 1971. The authors of the stained-glass window are the watercolorist and stained-glass painter Egons Cesnieks and architect Andris Purvins.
The artwork was created in accordance with Janis Rainis’ work, inspired by Andrejs Pumpurs’ epic poem “Lāčplēsis”. This large-format composition serves as both a prologue and an epilogue to the story of “Lāčplēsis”.
