The city of Daugavpils celebrates its 751st birthday with a varied cultural and entertainment program. The City Festival with the motto “Daugava vieno. Daugavpils svin”, will be held from June 5 to 7.
During the festivities, the city will transform into a vibrant space of cultural, artistic, and entertainment events, offering something for everyone — from concerts and creative workshops to sports activities, exhibitions, and family‑friendly programmes.
As part of the city celebrations, the traditional parade and festive fireworks show will also take place, which this year will unite artists and groups of the city festival through a play of light and musical accompaniment, who will perform on the main stage of the City Festival at Unity Square. This year’s artists are: on Friday, June 5, Intars Busulis with the Abonementa Orķestris and the band “Bermudu divstūris,” but on Saturday, June 6, rock musician Miks Galvanovskis, but on Saturday, June 6, rock musician Miks Galvanovskis, the internationally recognised Bon Jovi tribute band “New Jersey – Bon Jovi Tribute,” and the band “A-Europa.”
On the first day of the festival, the main festival stage at Unity Square will be opened with concert by the winners of the young talent competition. This will be an opportunity to hear the winners of the Latvian Regional Children’s and Youth Vocal Competition „Ceļā uz Lielo skatuvi”, who will perform accompanied by the professional orchestras of the Daugavpils City Municipal institution “Vienības nams”.
As the organizers of the City Festival note: “The city festival affirms the city’s diversity, creativity, and sense of unity. This year’s program also focuses on the idea of unity, which through shared festive moments strengthens the ties between people, cultures, and generations“.
