On 4 May, the Day of the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia, Daugavpils will host the Folk Costume Parade “Wear Your Folk Costume in Honour of Latvia!” for the second time. The parade will start at 12:00 on Rīgas Street (from the Stacijas Street side) and proceed to Vienības Square, where it will conclude with a festive gathering.
During the parade, spectators will have the opportunity to enjoy a vibrant and diverse display of folk costumes – from archaeological and ethnographic attire to clothing characteristic of the urban environment.
The Folk Costume Parade in Daugavpils is a festive, unifying, and symbolic event that highlights belonging to Latvia and the importance of national traditions in contemporary society. It serves as a reminder that a folk costume is not merely clothing – it is a living cultural symbol that carries stories, values, and a sense of togetherness.
Further information about the event will follow.
