Experience Exchange Trip \u201cTaste the History\u201d: Latvia\u2019s Gastronomic Tourism Offer for Professionals from \u0160iauliai and Daugavpils<\/strong><\/p>\n

On June 26\u201327, 2025, within the framework of the project \u201cCulinary Tourism Development through Modern Taste Traditional Lithuanian and Latvian Cuisine\u201d \/ \u201cTaste the History,\u201d part of the Interreg VI-A Latvia\u2013Lithuania Programme 2021\u20132027, an experience exchange trip took place to explore Latvia\u2019s gastronomic tourism offerings.<\/p>\n

To explore Latvia\u2019s tourism offering, representatives from four project partners participated in the trip: the \u0160iauliai Tourism Information Centre, the \u0160iauliai Technology Training Centre, the Daugavpils Technical School of Technologies and Tourism, and the Daugavpils Tourism Information Centre, along with representatives from food service industry businesses in Daugavpils and \u0160iauliai.<\/p>\n

Over the course of two days, tourism and catering industry professionals from \u0160iauliai (Lithuania) and Daugavpils (Latvia) visited several gastronomic tourism sites in the Madona and Prei\u013ci regions. During the trip, participants had the opportunity not only to taste local products and learn about their origin stories, but also to gain in-depth insight into the technological processes behind their preparation, explore the production equipment, and observe work processes in a natural environment. This provided a comprehensive perspective on the region\u2019s culinary heritage and sustainable production practices.<\/p>\n

As part of the program, the trip participants visited the organic farm \u201cLAT ANGUS\u201d, the cheese production facility \u201cL\u012aVI\u201d, the homemade wine producer \u201cDomu Pietura\u201d, the dairy farm \u201cLazdonas Piensaimnieks\u201d, and the organic farmers\u2019 enterprise \u201cJuri\u201d. Each visit provided a unique insight into the specific operations of the respective business and their contribution to the development of local gastronomic tourism.<\/p>\n

The project \u201cTaste the History\u201d is implemented with the support of the Interreg VI-A Latvia\u2013Lithuania Programme, promoting cooperation and development of culinary tourism in the border regions.<\/p>\n
